The company conducted a COI event, Sept. 15 in Concord, N.C., in conjunction with the National Hot Rod Association with Army Day at the Races.
Community Advisory Board chairman Blair Shwedo was decorated as an honorary recruiter for his service and dedication to Charlotte Company.
Jim Griffith was selected as honorary crewmember for the race as well.

Wake Forest versus Army Game

Winston Salem Recruiting Company, attended the Wake Forest vs. Army Game, Sept. 22 in Winston Salem, N.C.

Raleigh Main attends parent night

Raleigh Main Recruiting Station attended the East Wake H.S. Senior Parent Night, Sept. 18.
In attendance from the company were: Sgt. 1st Class Stanislas, Sgt. Williams and Capt. Thomas as well as Barton College and Wake Tech Community College. The purpose of the parent night was to educate parents on the opportunities available to their high school seniors.

Greenville RC gives back to Soldiers

The Greenville Recruiting Company gave back to the community, Sept. 21, by participating in the Support the Troops Program at the local State Employee Credit Union Branch located in Greenville, N.C.

The branch takes donations and sends them to Soldiers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Winston Salem attends Spirit of America; enlists 46 future Soldiers

Winston Salem Recruiting Company witnessed history come alive through historical reenactments, musical entertainment and precision military drill, when it attended the Spirit of America concert  Sept. 15, in Greensboro, N.C.

During the intermission, 46 future Soldiers stood tall and proud before hundreds of people to conduct the oath of enlistment. Maj. Gen. Michael Linnginton, commanding general, U.S. Army District of Washington, conducted the oath of enlistment and stated that our future Soldiers were some of the most motivated, disciplined future Soldiers that he had ever encountered.

The show accounts historical events taken directly from Soldiers' letters and diaries, providing the story line for this powerful drama, designed to entertain while representing the history and development of the U.S. Army from its origins through the wars, conflicts and missions that have molded the Army and the nation.

Raleigh Company supports Mud Run

Raleigh Company leaders and future Soldiers attended the N.C. State Highway Patrol  Trooper Challenge Mud Run in Saxapahaw, N.C., Sept. 15.

Raleigh Company helped participants conquer obstacles in support of the challenge.

This event created a fun, unique and family oriented event to promote wellness and positive interaction with the citizens that they serve in the great state of North Carolina.

Goldsboro Recruiting Center commerates 9/11

History Came to Life in Greesboro

   The 2012 Spirit of America tour stopped at the Greensboro Coliseum, in Greensboro, N.C., Sept. 14 and 15 for three shows.
   More than 300 active duty Soldiers from the U.S. Army Military District of Washington brought the history of the nation to life through historical reenactments, musical entertainment and precision military drill.

9/11 Memorial Luncheon

The local Baptist Temple of Alamance County and Burlington Recruiting Station hosted a 9/11 memorial, Sept. 6, in Burlington, N.C., honoring all of the local law enforcement, first responders and Army personnel in the Alamance county area. Raleigh company's participation in this event shows its support to the community and says thank you for all their support.

High Point station conducts high school blitz'

This event was great!
   We conducted a :30 minutue anti-bullying session with an accompanying national asset for three High School Blitz' in our area this week in High Point and Lexington.
   We were able to set up a class presentation with the JROTC department, creating interest with many other teachers for future presentations.
   We had exceptional support from the JROTC department and were able to achieve the following leads: seniors-17, juniors-40, sophomores-25 and freshman-31 for a total of 113 leads.
   We should be able to request Meals Ready to Eat in the future for a class presentation with their food class.

Welcome Master Sgt. Bias, new battalion training NCO

   Master Sgt. Wallace C. Bias assumed duties as Senior Master Trainer Raleigh Recruiting Battalion Sept. 4, 2012.  

   As Senior Master Trainer, Bias serves as the battalion staff personal advisor on all battalion training needs, particularly in areas affecting Soldiers, as well as recruiting centers training, quality of life, accomplishment of mission and overall unit combat readiness.

   He was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana and entered the Army in Opelousas, Louisiana on April 14, 1992. He attended basic combat training and advance individual training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and graduated as a 71L Administrative Specialist.  

   Bias has held assignments with the V Corps Artillery in Frankfurt, Germany; 27th Main Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; 551st Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, Georgia; Montgomery Recruiting Battalion; Headquarters USAREC, Fort Knox, Kentucky; and Houston Recruiting Battalion.

   His military and civilian education includes: Warrior Leader’s Course; Advance Leader’s Course; Instructor Trainer’s Course; Basic Recruiter Course; Station Commander’s Course; and the Senior Leader’s Course.  He is currently 90 semester hours from his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with the University of Phoenix.

Saluting a hero amongst us

   Sgt. Matthew Pyle, 28, was driving from his job at an Army recruiting station in Greensboro to his home in Jamestown one day in August, when he saw what looked like a large pillar of white smoke near a railroad crossing. At that point he realized there had just been a crash on the tracks.

   Still in uniform, Pyle left his car and ran to the driver of the truck. He asked the driver if he was injured and if he was hauling anything hazardous.

   A veteran of one tour in Afghanistan and one in Iraq, Pyle said he ran to the train to help those who were injured.

   “I didn’t think about whether I should run in there. It was just instinct,” Pyle said. “If someone needs help, you just help them."

Ten Soldiers from Raleigh Recruiting Battalion compete in 4th Quarter Bulldawg Challenge

   Ten Soldiers from the Raleigh Recruiting Battalion competed in the 4th Quarter Bulldog Challenge at Camp Mackall, near Ft. Bragg, from Sept. 4 – 6, 2012.

   The 10 Soldiers were divided up into teams of five each and competed in multiple events throughout the three-day competition. The events included the Nasty Nick Obstacle Course Competition; land navigation course; push up and sit up competition; sandbag carry; tug-of-war; and the five-mile team cross-fit competition, which also included push ups, squats and pull ups.

   The chosen Soldiers were selected from each company based on overall physical fitness scores, physical training consistency and stamina.  The winners of the 4th Quarter Bulldog Challenge were Staff Sgt. John Cousins and Staff Sgt. Charles Bertram, who defended the title for the “Mighty” Winston Salem Company, “Junk Yard Dogs!”
